ATELIER LUMA SARDINIA
2019
In February 2019 I was invited by Atelier Luma (Arles, Fr) and the Medsea fondation (Sardinia, Italy) to conduct research on traditional Sardinian weaving using local reed and rush. The aim was to imagine different ways to use these invasive plants to make an object for contemporary use. Seaweed was also a material that we explored. We collaborated with local makers who still keep this rich craft of Sardinian basketry alive (reed basketry, olive basketry and reed fish trap). The outcome of 10-day’s research was then exhibited at the Triennale Milano in April 2019. Find the video of the project here.
